First Renders- FormZ

So I liked the Green/Yellow theme color image. If any of you think another color scheme would look better, I would like to hear your suggestion.

Structural Material Research Catalog: WOOD

There were a lot of great ideas on yesterdays critique on the layouts, and I'll give credit to the Pneumatics team's layout which gave me some inspiration. I also liked the idea of the filmstrip Zach talked about and which some of you had. I played around with my layout, decided to go with a vertical theme (connection to verticality of trees). CLICK ME. Let me know what you all think, its still really rough. Have more pictures to post up.

Wood Framework

So Kyle decided to go for the flat roof, I believe this is how its suppose to look like. Please point out any mistakes

Connection with Paper Tubes

Attempt on a connection with the actual paper tubes. When cut clean, may look really well. Any suggestions on how to get cleaner cuts, lathes, etc. or on other joint techniques that may work. Another problem faced: Holes on the Tubes are weak with the connection, any suggestions on how to reinforce this???

WOOD LAYOUT

Second attempt on this page layout, some improvement yet not good enough. Produced with Photoshop, next step InDesign. Need to work on texts, background image, layout, and delete border markers....or possibly think of a better way to integrate them into the page theme.

So now that we heard all the fonts we should not use, which others are you all thinking of risking yourself with??

findings as a web page.

Possible Building Types:
Sports Arenas, Lecture Halls, Tent Structures, Air Ports, Markets, Light Weight Train Stations, Ferry Terminals, Bridges.

Learning Objectives:
Researching and Analyzing Structural Precedents, Working in and as a Team, Detailing of the structure.
The focus of the research will be in the use of the material in spanning applications. Groups will be
assigned one of the following materials.

Research MATERIALS:
01. Concrete
02. Masonry
03. Pneumatic
04. Steel
05. Tensile
06. Wood

First Task:
Collect general research about the designated material and present it in multiple 11 x 17 pages at the
beginning of Digital Media Class on Tuesday, August 26th.

Pinups:
Each student will pinup their developing work on their designated wall. This leads to an open dialogue and
exchange of ideas.

Portfolio:
Each student will continually develop a printed portfolio over the course of the semester. The portfolio will be a visual record our your process and development from the first day of class till the last. This document will contain sketches, photos, plans, sections, details, exploded axo’s, diagrams, maps, flow charts, models,
text, ideas, thoughts, axo’s, iso’s, collages, sequences, storyboards, animations, research, connections, links...

In Class Reviews:
It will be required that each student participate in the informal studio reviews which will occur periodically. It is imperative to practice articulating your thoughts about architecture and design. This is not only beneficial for you as a speaker, but also for your peers who will gain extra insights, ideas and feedback through your
comments.
